In an interview conducted by iGaming Business, chairman of the Nevada Gaming Control Board Mark Lipparelli indicated that some Nevada licensees for online intra-state poker would potentially be in operation “by late fall and certainly by late winter or the early part of 2013.”
Lipparelli detailed some of the approval timeline, saying he expected licensee applications appearing on the board’s public agenda in May or June, with technical evaluations of the systems to follow.
Of particular interest are Lipparelli’s comments indicating that the Nevada approval process is all that is necessary to move forward. Specifically, state approval will result in the ability to operate without any additional legislation.
Nevada appears well-positioned to carry its status as the center of gambling America into the online world as the first mover. Game on!
